Why not prepare various dishes for them at home? There are many cheap, practical and delicious recipes. Thus, you can be sure that your pet is eating healthy by taking the right vitamins and minerals. Make sure to consult with your vet before you switch to homemade food and talk about how it can affect your furry friend. We know that some dogs, such as Frenchies and pugs, are allergic to food, we do not want you to encounter this situation.

Every breed of dog has different eating habits. It would be a good idea to slowly change these eating habits to prevent an upset stomach.

When preparing a delicious meal for your dog, use ingredients you trust, make him feel like a member of your family. It may be challenging at first, but your motivation will increase as you do it. There is also a formula to make your job easier. 50% protein, 25% vegetable, 25% grain. You can use this formula as the ideal ratio.

You can find the amount of food to serve per meal according to the weight of your dog below. (double check with your vet)

Small Dogs: (Boston Terriers, Dachshunds, Pug)

  • 10 pounds → ¾ cup
  • 15 pounds → 1 cup

Medium Dogs: (Australian Shepherd, Bull Terrier)

  • 30 pounds → 1 ¾ cups
  • 40 pounds → 2 ¼ cups
  • 50 pounds → 2 ¾ cups

Large Dogs: (Golden Retrievers, Rottweilers, German Shepherds)

  • 60 pounds → 3 cups
  • 80 pounds → 3 ¾ cups
  • 100 pounds → 4 ⅓ cups

If your dog is more than 100 pounds, you can add ⅓ cup for every 10 pounds.
